Garage Sale to raise funds for adoption

I know this is last minute but we wanted to get it in before the cool days of fall/winter arrive. We are working with a birth mom. We are so excited to say that a little bundle of joy is on the way. We need to raise a little more to help with this adoption. So we are having a garage sale. We are taking donations of items too. The sale is this Saturday Oct 18 from 8-3. 1500 Waverly Pl, Joliet. We are taking offers on everything so that we don't have a lot of time spent tagging everything. Trusting God for the amount raised. So if you have stuff you want to get rid of, we can help you out. Also having a few volunteers here for that day would be great.

Adoption isn't for the faint of heart.

Kudos to NCIS. I just watched an episode where they portrayed a tough situation regarding adoption. Most TV shows and movies make adoption look so easy. They gloss over the difficult parts and show a loving couple with a new child. NCIS showed a situation where the birth mom changed her mind after giving birth. The character on the show was devastated but encouraged by Gibbs to not give up. Having experienced some tough, but not nearly as tough, situations in adoption, I appreciate the realism portrayed.

Found an awesome fundraiser! We are raising funds for adoption for our family and for the apparent project at the same time. These paper bead bracelets from Haiti are so pretty. Each one comes with a tag that shows the person who made it. We are selling them for $8 each. In Haiti when a family can no longer provide for their children they send them to orphanages. This program helps the families stay together by giving the mothers and fathers an income. They also take donations of cardboard to help make the bracelets.
